Skeppshult Traditional

Skeppshult »Traditional« - Cast Iron Pans with Beech Wood Handle

Black, heavy cast iron combined with a wonderfully warm wood tone – this is the Skeppshult »Traditional« series. The handle of this collection is made from solid beech wood sourced from Swedish forests. Wood is an ideal material for pan handles as it insulates heat. Even when frying on a hot stove, the handle remains comfortably cool. However, this series should not be placed in the oven, as the oven heat would dry out the wood. Naturally, this collection is also not suitable for open fire or grilling.

Cast iron pans and roasters from Skeppshult are heavy. Really heavy. Because in the thickness of the material used, cast iron develops its excellent cooking and frying properties. As an additional supportive handle, the pans have a practical cast iron lip.

The bottom of the pans is slightly concave. This slight curvature is precision-milled and is a quality feature of Skeppshult products. When hot, the metal expands and lies flat and securely on the stove.

Frequently Asked Questions about Skeppshult Traditional

How do I properly care for my Skeppshult Traditional pan?

After frying, clean the pan with hot water, dry it thoroughly, and rub it lightly with oil. This keeps it rust-free and ready for use.

Can I use the Skeppshult Traditional pan in the oven?

No, the beechwood handle cannot withstand oven heat and could be damaged. Models without a wooden handle are better suited for the oven.

Why is the bottom of the Skeppshult Traditional pan slightly concave?

This concave shape ensures that the pan lies flat on the stovetop when heated, distributing the heat evenly.

Do I need to season the Skeppshult Traditional pan before first use?

No, the pan is already seasoned with high-quality organic rapeseed oil and is ready for immediate use.

What are the benefits of the beechwood handle on the Skeppshult Traditional pan?

The handle stays cool while frying and provides comfortable handling, as wood does not conduct heat.

How do I prevent food from sticking to the Skeppshult Traditional pan?

Use enough high-heat oil like ghee or coconut oil and preheat the pan well before frying.
