Skeppshult

ABBA, Volvo, and furniture – that's what Sweden is known for. The place Skeppshult in the Swedish province of Jönköpings län is not as well-known to most. However, insiders get excited at this name: The brand Skeppshult has been manufacturing cookware from cast iron of the highest quality in this Swedish town since 1906, following traditional craftsmanship. Here, pans and roasters are created that are second to none. Cast iron from the brand Skeppshult is a material made from natural raw materials, it is ideal for cooking & frying and has a long lifespan. Moreover, it gets better with each use – something even furniture can't boast …

Cookware from Skeppshult stands out due to its excellent material properties: Cast iron has an outstanding heat conduction, even heat distribution, and very good heat retention. It is suitable for both slow and gentle cooking (braising) as well as for searing. The patina that forms with use acts like a natural non-stick coating and can even enhance the flavor of the food. Additionally, cast iron from the brand Skeppshult is robust and durable when properly cared for.

Butch carries Skeppshult cookware such as pans, roasters, and oven dishes, as well as accessories like the spice collection and various kitchen tools. In the shop, you will find the series Skeppshult Original, Skeppshult Järn, Skeppshult Traditional, Skeppshult Walnut, Skeppshult Professional, Skeppshult Lift, and Skeppshult Noir. A special feature is the Skeppshult Grytstapel collection: It includes multi-piece sets where the lid can also be used as a pan.

ABOUT SKEPPSHULT

From Pig Iron to Cookware

Faster – higher – further. Today's world is characterized by rapid change, short-lived trends lead to fashionable products, and the result is often cheap mass instead of class. However, alongside this, an alternative way of thinking and acting is increasingly noticeable: More and more people are seeking the genuine, the unadulterated, valuing tradition, origin, and quality. They desire transparency and traceability in food and products. This philosophy is also followed by the brand Skeppshult. The manufactory has been producing cookware and household items from cast iron in the town of Skeppshult, Sweden, since 1906 - using traditional manufacturing methods and by hand.

It all begins with glowing cast iron

Pig iron is heated in induction furnaces along with other metals to 1,500 degrees (the recipe for this mixture ratio is carefully guarded by Skeppshult). This creates glowing cast iron, the base material for Skeppshult roasters and pans. To be able to pour liquid iron, special casting molds are needed. Metal molds would not withstand the extreme temperatures of liquid cast iron. Here, sand molds are used, which Skeppshult manufactures itself.
