Small but Effective: Peelers & Cutters
Peeling vegetables is not necessarily one of our favorite activities as kitchen heroes. However, with the right tool, this task becomes easy and even somewhat meditative. Expanding consciousness through peeling potatoes? Why not! It's definitely worth a try...
Here, it's all about fruit and vegetable peelers: What types are there, and which variant is best suited for what purpose.
Longitudinal Peeler
Vertical peelers – in I-shape – are also called longitudinal peelers. They are particularly well-suited for small, round fruits and vegetables like apples and potatoes. With a vertical peeler, you work from the hand, with the thumb guiding. This type of peeler is also available with a swivel blade. It perfectly adapts to the peeling material. Unsightly spots can be removed with the practical potato eye tip. Ergonomically shaped handles also allow for peeling larger quantities of vegetables and fruits without causing hand cramps.
Cross Peeler
Cross peelers – in Y-shape or T-shape – are mainly used for elongated vegetables and stalk vegetables. Cucumbers, zucchini, radishes, asparagus, and carrots are peeled in no time with this kitchen helper. The peeling motion here comes from the whole arm. Even longer work does not cause fatigue, as peeling is done without much pressure or effort, and the hands remain relatively relaxed. These peelers are also available with a swivel blade. You should value an ergonomic and comfortable handle shape, as it ensures the peeler sits well and securely in the hand while working.
