Peelers

Vertical peelers – in I-shape – are also called lengthwise peelers. They are particularly suitable for small, round fruits and vegetables such as apples and potatoes. With a vertical peeler, you work from the hand, with the thumb leading. This peeler shape is also available with a pendulum blade. It perfectly adapts to the peeling material. Unsightly spots can be removed with the practical potato eye tip. Ergonomically shaped handles also allow you to peel larger quantities of vegetables and fruits without your hands cramping.

Horizontal Peelers

Horizontal peelers – in Y-shape or T-shape – are mainly used for elongated vegetables and stalk vegetables. Cucumbers, zucchini, radishes, asparagus, and carrots can be peeled in no time with this kitchen helper. The peeling movement is made from the entire arm. Even longer work does not tire you out, as peeling is done without much pressure or effort, and the hands remain relatively relaxed. These peelers are also available with a pendulum blade. You should value an ergonomic and comfortable grip shape, as this ensures that the peeler fits well and securely in your hand while working.

Serrated Blades

This blade shape is used when peeling fruits and vegetables with soft flesh and hard skin. Mangoes, tomatoes, or peppers are such candidates that are best tackled with a serrated blade.

Julienne Peelers

Actually, a julienne peeler should rather be called a julienne "cutter" since it cuts vegetables into uniform, fine strips. This way, you can serve carrots, celery, or zucchini like in a Michelin-starred restaurant: as a garnish in sauces and soups, as a vegetable bed under fish, as a topping on pasta and salad.

A genius little tool is the Microplane Specialty Spiralizer. It works in principle like a pencil sharpener: simply place the small or large cutting opening on the stick vegetable depending on the diameter and slowly turn the carrot or zucchini like a pencil. The result is uniform, long vegetable strips. Perfect for professionally cut vegetable spaghetti! And so easy.

For Right-/Left-Handers

Many of the peelers shown here are suitable for both right- and left-handers. You can find detailed information about this in the respective product description.

What to do when the blade of the peeler becomes dull?

The blades of the peelers we offer at Butch stay really sharp for a long time. If the blade does become dull, you can simply flip it over with many double-bladed peelers. Usually, you only cut in one direction, thus only using one blade. The other one is still like new. Or you can sharpen smooth blades with the help of a nail file. Pull the file several times along the inside of the blade. Then once or twice from the outside so that no edge remains. Done!

Cutters

There are real all-rounders for coring, destemming, hollowing out - such as the hand cutters from the de Buyer brand. Then we have specialists here: cherry pitters, plum pitters, ball cutters, fruit pitters, and more. No matter which tool you are looking for - all kitchen helpers shown here play in the professional league in terms of quality, just as you know and expect from products from the Butch shop.
