The Nesmuk dining board, with a size of 27 x 18 cm and a height of 2 cm, is the smallest cutting board in the range. However, it can be used on both sides. Although it is referred to as a dining board, it is of course also suitable for daily, small cutting tasks. The wood in this variant is natural.
The dining boards, which are manufactured in a small factory in southern Germany, are made exclusively from oak end-grain heartwood.
- - Oak wood, because this wood is naturally more resistant to bacteria due to its high tannic acid content.
- - End grain, because then only the fiber bundles are cut from above. This protects finely sharpened blades and the wood can even regenerate with good care.
- - Heartwood, the center of the trunk cross-section and is the oldest and most valuable part of the trunk, because the cell growth there is completed and virtually no moisture can penetrate anymore.
The individual strips are hand-selected (an absolute novelty) and joined together by wood welding to form a characteristic yet symmetrical, harmonious pattern. The fine surface grinding and the final treatment with natural linseed oil and beeswax make the surface resistant and give the cutting board a silky shine.
