minoSharp Sharpening Stones & Sharpening Tools

The Japanese brand minoSharp represents ceramic sharpening stones and tools of the highest quality. This label, like the knife brand Global, belongs to the company Yoshikin. It seemed logical for Yoshikin to offer high-quality sharpening tools alongside professional-quality knives. These knife sharpeners were developed within the company by Mino Tsuchida, who is also affectionately known as "Mr. Global." He is an internationally recognized expert in Japanese knives and knife sharpening. Under the brand minoSharp, both professional sharpening stones and tools are offered. With both, it is possible to sharpen knives to razor-sharpness.

The ceramic sharpening stones from minoSharp are available in two different versions: as single-sided stones with only one grit, ranging from coarse to fine, or as double-sided stones for flipping, with two different grits. Depending on the need and requirement, different grits are needed for sharpening a knife blade – more on this below in the text.

A quick and uncomplicated way is to sharpen knives using so-called ceramic sharpeners. These minoSharp knife sharpeners are small handy tools with ceramic rollers inside. The knife is drawn through these rollers until it reaches the desired sharpness. We also have further information below the products for you, along with two manufacturer videos. Here, Mino Tsuchida personally demonstrates the handling of the minoSharp sharpening stones and tools quite impressively.

Ceramic Sharpening Stones

The ceramic sharpening stones from MinoSharp are available in two different versions: single sharpening stones with ONE grit, or double-sided reversible sharpening stones with TWO different grits. The choice of grit depends on the intended use: A coarse 240 grit is recommended if your knives already have small damages or have become very dull. The most common sharpening stone is the "Medium" variant with a 1000 grit. With it, you can sharpen knives that have become dull from frequent use and achieve a high level of sharpness. For the ultimate finish, a fine grit of 6000 and upwards is recommended. These sharpening stones are considered polishing stones, and with them, you can actually achieve the sharpness of a razor blade – of course, only if the quality of the base material, namely the knife blade, allows for it.

All MinoSharp sharpening stones come with two sharpening guides and a non-slip sharpening base, which also serves as a practical storage box. The sharpening guides are clamped onto the back of the knife during use and help you maintain the correct angle between the sharpening stone and the knife blade. The exact sharpening angle is crucial for a truly sharp knife.
