KAI Strop Set - Leather Strop & Polishing Paste

Leather & knife sharpening go hand in hand. At least since the Western movies, we know that barbers strop their razors on a leather strop before the next cowboy is up. The KAI leather strop with polishing paste did not exist back then. Otherwise, it would certainly have appeared in one or another film.

Leather is the perfect material to give the blades the final polish after grinding. Afterwards, the edge is mirror-smooth and the knives are extremely sharp. With the included chromium oxide polishing paste, you can also sharpen slightly dull knives again. You apply this on one side of the strop, the other you leave natural, i.e. without the polishing paste. The two leather sides are attached to a body of thick oak wood. You can hold the leather strop securely by the handle.

Before hope arises now, we unfortunately have to dampen expectations a bit: Very dull knives cannot be sharpened with the leather strop. Unless you take a lot of time and have two to five leather strops in reserve. Before very dull knives get acquainted with the leather strop, they should definitely have been sharpened beforehand. If you use the leather regularly, you won't need the other sharpening tools as often.
