KAI Seki Magoroku Red Wood Knife

KAI Seki Magoroku Red Wood

Here we have a fine tuning compared to the Wasabi Black series, but really a very fine one: The KAI Seki Magoroku Red Wood series is a chef's knife series in robust stainless steel quality, completed with a chestnut-shaped handle made of pakkawood.

The Seki Magoroku Red Wood Blade

The blade is typically sleek, sharp & stylish. We can certainly get more detailed: the blades are made of a stainless, mirror-polished carbon 1K6 steel with a hardness of about 58 HRC. Both double-edged and single-edged, the blades offer really good durability and truly appealing sharpness, of course, based on the steel used.

The Seki Magoroku Red Wood Handle

The chestnut-shaped handle is made of pakkawood. Pakkawood is already very robust. However, by adding high-quality resins, the handle becomes even more durable and resistant to liquids. The chestnut shape tapering towards the blade was chosen because this shape optimally adapts to the hand when cutting. The transition between the inserted blade and the handle is adorned with a polished polypropylene ferrule.

The Seki Magoroku Red Wood Blade Shapes

The range is packed with 11 blade shapes. European knife shapes such as the office, utility & chef's knife are offered. Fans of Japanese blade shapes also do not need to look at other series. In addition to the Santoku and the single-edged Usuba, the Seki Magoroku Red Wood series also includes two Yanagiba and a Deba knife.

The KAI Seki Magoroku Red Wood series is not particularly popular, more of an insider tip. That should change because the knives fit excellently in the hand and the cutting result is above average. A truly successful series for high demands, which also offers an impressive price-performance ratio.
