Güde Delta Sharpening Steel 26 cm - CVM Steel - Grenadilla Wood Handle Scales
Manufacturer part number:
D055/26
Details
The GÜDE Delta sharpening steel has a 26 cm long and round blade made of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum knife steel with fine ridges on the blade. A hand guard is incorporated between the blade and handle to protect you from injuries. The handle is also made of steel, which is hollowed out. A handle scale made of very hard grenadilla wood is fitted into the hollow. Although the handle appears bulky, it still fits extremely well and securely in the hand.
Sharpening steels are very good tools for keeping your knives in shape. When used, the edge is deburred. This means that the microscopically smallest deformations of the edge are straightened again. With regular use, the service life is maintained and the time until actual sharpening is extended. A sharpening steel does not remove any material from the blade and is therefore only recommended for very dull knives to a limited extent.
The use is very simple:
1) Place the tip of the sharpening steel on a firm surface so that you do not wobble
2) Pull the knife against the blade (away from you) at an angle of about 15 degrees with slight pressure over the sharpening steel. Make sure that you pull the edge completely from the back to the tip over the sharpening steel.
3) Repeat the procedure with the other side
4) Start again at point 1 and repeat the process about 10 times.
5) Clean your knife with some dish soap under running water
6) Dry your knife thoroughly
7) Find something to chop and get started!
