Bread knife? No, more like a bread sword. Yes, it's long, very long indeed. In this case, however, size DOES matter. No other bread knife makes slicing bread so easy and enjoyable. Please restrain yourself, as you may quickly cut more slices than needed.

The Alpha Pear Bread Sword glides through hard and soft crusts. It has a 32 cm long, straight blade with the famous Güde wave cut made of rust-free & hand-sharpened chrome-vanadium-molybdenum knife steel. The blade length won't let you despair even with wide loaves of bread and the weight of the knife supports your sawing motion, so only light pressure is needed. A truly impressive bread knife in all respects.

Güde knives are hand-forged from a single piece of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum steel, from the tip of the blade to the double bolster. The double bolster, a special feature of Güde knives, provides a counterweight to the blade. The knife is perfectly balanced. The special blend of steel and the elaborate manufacturing process involving over 30 manual steps give the rust-free blades with a hardness of approx. 58 HRC a special robustness and longevity.

The finely polished handle scales made of pear wood are embedded in the steel and triple riveted. Pear wood is extremely hard with a finely structured, velvety grain. The Alpha Pear series was launched on the occasion of Güde's admission by the Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe, Germany section, into the circle of Preferred Suppliers. The logo of the association is engraved in the double bolster.
