GLOBAL Sharpening Tools

The product portfolio of the Japanese knife specialist Yoshikin also includes premium sharpening tools from the GLOBAL brand. Every knife, no matter how high-quality, will eventually need to be resharpened. For resharpening GLOBAL knives, the manufacturer explicitly recommends diamond sharpeners or ceramic sharpeners. Metal sharpening rods should not be used, as metal sharpeners are too coarse for the extremely fine blades of GLOBAL knives. The ceramic sharpening rod G-45 is manufactured by Kyocera exclusively for GLOBAL knives. The material of this sharpening rod is extremely hard and ideally suited for resharpening premium knives.

For quick resharpening in between, we recommend the pull-through knife sharpener from GLOBAL. Its advantage is its practical handling. You need almost no preparation, no prior knowledge about sharpening angles & Co., and little time. The knife is sharpened by pulling it through the water-filled tool. Two small, also replaceable ceramic sharpening wheels ensure sharpness for all double-edged knives.

Frequently Asked Questions about Global Sharpening Tools

Why should I use a ceramic sharpening rod for my Global knives?

Ceramic sharpening rods are ideal for Global knives as they gently sharpen the fine blades and maintain their sharpness longer. Metal sharpeners, on the other hand, can be too coarse and damage the blade.

How often should I sharpen my Global knives?

The frequency of sharpening depends on usage. For daily use, it is recommended to sharpen the knives every 1-2 weeks with a ceramic or diamond sharpening rod to ensure optimal cutting performance.

Can I use a pull-through sharpener for my Global knives?

Yes, a pull-through sharpener is convenient for quick sharpening in between. Make sure to choose a model with ceramic sharpening wheels to avoid damaging the blade.

What is the difference between a ceramic and a diamond sharpening rod?

Ceramic sharpening rods are ideal for regular sharpening and maintaining the blade's sharpness. Diamond sharpening rods are more aggressive and better suited for heavily worn or damaged blades.

How do I properly care for my ceramic sharpening rod?

Clean the ceramic sharpening rod regularly with warm water and a soft brush to remove metal residues. Avoid strong impacts, as ceramic is fragile.

Can I use Global sharpening tools for other knives?

Yes, Global sharpening tools can also be used for other high-quality knives. However, make sure to use the correct sharpening angle and technique for the respective blade.
