de Buyer Choc Extreme Saute Pan 36 cm with Non-Stick Coating & Handle Grips - Die Cast Aluminum
The Choc Extreme pans and pots from the French manufacturer are extremely good. We don't just say this, but because pans have been serving us well for years. To be precise, a pan from this series lasted 10 years until we had it recoated.
The body is made of die-cast aluminum. In this process, aluminum is pressed into shape under high pressure and achieves a high density. The result is extreme stability & strength. Since aluminum itself is a very good heat conductor, the entire cookware heats up quickly and above all evenly. In addition, the dense material stores the heat very well.
However, aluminum reacts with food. Therefore, the entire body is enclosed with a reinforced and truly extreme robust non-stick coating based on PTFE, oven-safe up to 250 degrees Celsius! There is no, or hardly any, liquid or fat needed for cooking. Nevertheless, the food is easy to remove and hardly sticks. In our opinion, the Choc Extreme non-stick coating is one of the best coatings currently available. This is also confirmed in daily use in our store & at home.
The riveted handle is made of ergonomically shaped stainless steel casting, or a stainless steel hollow handle. There is only a slight warming, but no overheating. With pots and sauté pans with handle grips, the body and handle are made of one piece. We don't want to fool you: these handles get pretty warm, not to say hot. So keep pot holders or a towel ready.
Speaking of rivets. If you can speak of a weak point in the Choc Extreme series at all, then it's the rivets. Don't worry, they won't loosen. However, the protective coating on the rivets will come off after some time and the bare steel will emerge. But you don't have to worry about that. The function of the pan or the non-stick coating is not affected at all. We just wanted to mention it so you won't be surprised or annoyed.
The bottom of the Choc Extreme series, reinforced with magnetic steel, allows use on all types of stoves including induction without deforming at high temperatures. You can also clean the Choc Extreme series in the dishwasher. We recommend - as usual at this point - but cleaning by hand. This is faster anyway and extends the life of your cookware many times over.
Are you tired of non-stick coatings that let you down after a short time. Give yourself a push and try our insider tip: the de Buyer Choc Extreme series. You won't regret it. The complete range and other pans and pots from de Buyer can be found at de Buyer Choc Series.
