Boos Blocks Wood Care - Pflegeprodukte

Boos Blocks Care Products for Cutting Boards and Butcher Blocks

All Boos Blocks are made of wood. Wood is a natural material and, like many things in life, requires regular maintenance to ensure you enjoy it for years to come. The manufacturer Boos Blocks explicitly recommends using Boos Mystery Oil and Boos Board Cream to care for your cutting board.

Both the Boos Board Cream and the Boos Mystery Oil are food-safe care products. Both products can be used separately and independently every 3-4 weeks. We recommend first using the Boos Mystery Oil and then simply applying a protective layer with the Boos Board Cream. The Boos Board Cream contains natural beeswax, providing direct protection for the wood surface against water and oil, as well as preventing drying, fading, and cracking. It restores the moisture lost through use and washing. It penetrates deep into the wood, maintaining its appearance and longevity.

The two care products not only protect your cutting boards but also all other wooden surfaces you use for food preparation.

How to properly care for butcher blocks and cutting boards?

All Boos Blocks are double-sided usable boards. They offer you two work surfaces for chopping, cutting, dicing, and mincing. Each side can be used for different types of food preparation. If the board slips during use, place a dry and non-wet anti-slip mat under the board. Never let water or other liquids sit on your Boos Blocks cutting boards for an extended period. Otherwise, the wood will swell. To keep the surface of the wood always clean and hygienic, it is best to use a spatula or scraper for cleaning. If that is not available, use a sponge with a scouring side. However, never use a steel brush on your cutting board. The negative effect of rough steel on wood is surely clear to you.

Apply the care oil to the surface of your cutting board at intervals of at least once a month. If you use your cutting board frequently, you can of course apply it more often. Use a cotton cloth for application. Then let it soak in and dry overnight. This way, the moisture barrier within the wood is maintained.

Note that you should never prepare fish or poultry on the board unless you regularly maintain your board. The explanation is simple: Before processing fish, seafood, or poultry, it must be ensured that the moisture barrier is intact. This moisture barrier ensures that the penetration of liquids and bacteria into the wood is prevented. After processing fish or poultry, the surface must always be cleaned. Please make sure never to cut permanently in the same spot on the wooden board. It is very important that the cuts on the board are evenly distributed.
