Boos Blocks 1887 Collection
Cutting boards in rustic design
It's the year 1887. John Boos made his first cutting block for a local butcher. On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the company, the origin was remembered and - inspired by the original Boos butcher block - the 1887 Collection was designed in Rustic-Edge design.
The Rustic-Edge Design
In the Rustic-Edge design, cutting boards are left as natural as possible during processing. Rustic, roughly sawn edges, sometimes with notches and knots, are characteristic of these cutting boards. Each board differs even more from the others than is already the case with wooden cutting boards. The natural variations in color, grain, and especially in the growth rings are fully highlighted. More than ever, the wooden cutting boards of the 1887 Collection are true one-of-a-kind pieces.
Three sustainably sourced wood types
The available wood types are maple, black walnut, and cherry wood. All wood types are characterized by a certain hardness, but give way enough to protect knife blades. Boos Blocks uses renewable wood from sustainable sources in the USA for the 1887 Collection. Production achieves a 25% lower CO2 footprint and generates 25% less material waste compared to conventional production.
Made from a single piece of wood
The cutting boards are made from a single piece of hardwood, can be used on both sides, and are safe for preparing any type of food. The wood types used have a high tannic acid content, which acts as a natural antimicrobial when properly cared for. The finely polished cutting surfaces, like all Boos Blocks cutting boards, are protected by the Boos Blocks Cream Finish with beeswax.
