Blockwerk Knife Blocks
In the Blockwerk Manufactory, extraordinary knife blocks are created from fine woods such as oak, smoked oak, and walnut. Each knife block is a design object and a unique piece. The Blockwerk knife blocks are crafted by Marcel Palme and Jens Zander in their own manufactory in Rödermark, near Frankfurt am Main.
Butch has found a kindred partner in Blockwerk. This brand and its creators possess a similarly edgy charm. They have a clear perspective on things and take pride in what they do every day: "It is a gift to be able to build something that others like so much that they want to take it home" - as stated in a quote on the Blockwerk homepage.
Four Models to Choose From
When you have a choice, you have a dilemma! But it's not that bad with Blockwerk. You just need to decide how many knives should fit in your knife block. This narrows down the selection a bit. Now, find a favorite wood and possibly choose a base that matches the knives and/or kitchen. Not so difficult, right?
Monolith
for 4 knives, freely rotatable 360°, available in oak, smoked oak & walnut; base made of stainless steel
Monolith Strandgut
for 4 knives, freely rotatable 360°, available in oak, smoked oak & walnut, body with edge treatment, base with antique finish
6-er
for 6 knives, not rotatable, available in oak, smoked oak & walnut, base with antique finish
8-er
for 8 knives, not rotatable, available in oak, smoked oak & walnut, base in natural steel, black coated or white lacquered
Strong Internal Magnets
All knife blocks are equipped with invisible, internal magnets. The strong magnets are not continuous but individually arranged. This way, each knife has its own place, and the blades do not damage each other.
Heavy Steel Bases
All blocks also feature extra heavy steel bases that guarantee a secure stand. The knife blocks do not wobble and certainly do not tip over. Thanks to the high weight, you can also remove the knives with one hand. And that is truly not a given, but extremely practical.
Give Blockwerk an Award!
The Blockwerkers should actually be showered with awards. Loud drumming does not match the style of Blockwerk, though. The gentlemen prefer to quietly and silently work on their blocks. For example, over a year of development time went into the Monolith knife block alone. The beauty is, you can't tell by looking at the blocks. So naturally, confidently, and unpretentiously, the blocks stand there. Nevertheless, we consider each block a true work of art.
Blockwerk knife blocks are not mass-produced but are individually crafted in careful handwork, as each block is unique due to the individual grain of the wood and has a corresponding recognition value. Incredibly practical and simply beautiful!
