Details

Striving for perfection. With the Nesmuk Janus steak and table knife, this goal is almost achieved. The blade is made of a special nitrogen-enriched knife steel. This unique alloy makes the steel extremely resistant to corrosion. At the same time, the steel can be hardened much more without becoming brittle. This optimized steel structure enables the classic Nesmuk sharpness combined with an unusually high hardness and an enormous service life. The blade with wedge grind has a hardness of about 60 HRC.

The Janus steak and table knives are additionally refined with the Diamond-Like-Carbon coating (DLC). This coating, which is only a few micrometers thick but extremely hard (2,300 Vickers), makes the blades insensitive to acids and similar aggressive influences.

Great side effects of this scratch-resistant coating:

Due to the low friction values, the blades glide even more easily through the cutting material and appear sharper. The deep black color of the DLC coating gives the blades a breathtaking appearance.

And Nesmuk has not only optimized the steel: The straight geometry requires a clean cut without sawing and tearing. Only the tip is placed and often a single pull of the blade is enough to smoothly cut the cutting material. This functionality is only guaranteed with an extremely sharp blade.

The blade and tang are made of one piece of steel, which gives the knife a wonderful balance. Each knife is individually completely ground and lies comfortably and securely in the hand without any disturbing edges or gaps. In this version, the handle scales are made of polished desert ironwood. This hard and heavy wood, originating from the southern part of the USA and Mexico, is ideal for knife handles due to its high density. The brown-red basic tone is crossed by dark stripes in different grain patterns. On both sides, the handle scales are covered with stainless steel lunettes decorated with black precious resin. On one side, the Nesmuk bat is engraved and highlighted by white fine lacquer.
