The Nesmuk dining board, with a size of 27 x 18 cm and a height of 2 cm, is the smallest cutting board in the range. However, it can be used on both sides. Although it is referred to as a dining board, it is of course also suitable for daily, small cutting tasks. The wood in this variant is smoked and appears darker.
The dining boards, which are manufactured in a small factory in southern Germany, are made exclusively from oak end-grain heartwood.
- - Oak wood, because this wood is naturally more resistant to bacteria due to its high tannic acid content.
- - End grain, because then only the fiber bundles are cut from above. This protects finely sharpened blades and the wood can even regenerate with good care.
- - Heartwood, the center of the trunk cross-section and is the oldest and most valuable part of the trunk, because cell growth is completed there and virtually no moisture can penetrate.
The individual strips are hand-selected (an absolute novelty) and welded together by wood to form a characteristic yet symmetrical, harmonious pattern. The fine surface grinding and the final treatment with natural linseed oil and beeswax make the surface resistant and give the cutting board a silky shine.
