All-Clad d5 Stainless – Improved Stability

The primary use of All-Clad cookware is in professional kitchens. This does not mean that All-Clad products are not usable in home kitchens, quite the opposite. However, the gastronomy industry is the core business of All-Clad. Since these kitchens mostly use induction fields with higher power and the cookware is almost non-stop in use, the cookware must have a higher stability. To ensure this, an additional layer of stainless steel was installed in the center of the d5 Stainless series.

Multi-layer material with additional stainless steel layer

The d5 Stainless series is based on the multi-layer material of the d3 Stainless series: made using the roll bonding process, 18/10 stainless steel encloses a core of aluminum and aluminum alloys, with a polished ferromagnetic stainless steel on the outside. Additionally, the d5 Stainless series has an additional layer of stainless steel in the core. This prevents warping of the bottom during intense use on high-power induction fields.

What is a bonus for professional kitchens means a slightly small disadvantage for the home stove: due to the additional layer of stainless steel, the d5 Stainless series heats up a little slower than the d3 Stainless series. Whether you will even notice it without measuring devices, we doubt. But we wanted to mention it at least.

Enlarged handles made of cast stainless steel

There are also small deviations in the handles and stem handles of the d5 Stainless series. Also riveted and also made of cast stainless steel, they are slightly larger. Higher heat during intense use requires wider handles to reduce heating.

Solid basic range

The range is limited to the necessary basic range. Three pots are available in different sizes, four stem casseroles, three pans, and - our favorites - two sauté pans. The Dutch oven must not be missing here either.
